Another rambling post

If there be the effulgence of a thousand suns bursting forth all at once in the heavens, even that would hardly approach the splendor of the mighty Lord

(Bhagavad Gita, 11:12)

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life"

(John 8:12)

Light upon light, light upon light,
upon light is light
This majestic light of divine epiphany
penetrates every darkness.
You are here, you are also there
for you are everywhere
this effulgence.
Oh, what magnificent splendor!

(Sufi song)

Prophets and seers down the ages everywhere have always talked of peace. Love, and service.

Professing to follow in their footsteps, we have somehow, managed to box ourselves in various categories and denominations in such a way that would have surely failed to pass muster in their eyes, for many wars have been waged and the blood of innocents spilled in their name and nations have been torn asunder.

Prejudices have been cleverly projected as political tools not only in Asia and the Middle East but even in the US of A, where Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard had to face allegations of not being aligned with the constitutional foundation of the US government merely because of her faith and having been compared with the devil, no less!

Let's kindle the lamp within!

  1. Oh my friend, you have no idea how my heart curdles at what is happening right now. They elected him to drain the swamp but he has filled it instead with monsters, as we of course knew would be the case. It takes a lot to discourage me but I am frankly discouraged. And so afraid for the millions of vulnerable people - not to mention the planet. I light the call for light. It is one thing we can do, shine light onto the darkness. Thank you for that.

  3. Thanks for these inspirational passages and healing words. These are trying times to be sure, and I'm sometimes discouraged by humanity's inability to celebrate and accept our differences. Why can't we all just get along?

I'll take your words to Sherry to heart, Soumyendu, and try not to lose hope!

    1. Hi Rita, am really sorry I did not notice your comments until now and the fact that the blogger template has changed a bit has much to do with it :)

Every evening, I hear the azaan from a nearby mosque, calling the faithful to prayer. Some of these calls to prayer are so melodious it literally tugs at the heartstrings. And then with unfailing regularity the temple bells start ringing and clanging at dusk, imparting a sonic component to the colours of the setting sun. Without much effort, the mind settles into a deep sense of peace and comfort.

Thank you for visiting the blog post, Rita and I hope you are all doing well
